St. Gerard’s 5K Fun Run – Owen’s October Challenge

On 23rd November 2025, our St. Gerard’s family was devastated by the loss of Owen Jenkinson, aged 17 — a much-loved son, cousin, nephew and friend to so many within the St Gerard’s Family.

Owen is remembered with enormous love and affection by his family, friends and our school community. Over the last 3 years the Jenkinson family and members of #TeamJenko have taken part in Owen’s October Challenge, completing a 5K every day throughout October to raise money for PACT (Parents Association of Children with Tumours), based at Sheffield Children’s Hospital.

This year, our St. Gerard’s family is proud to join the challenge once again. Staff, children, families and friends will be getting their trainers on throughout October to help raise vital funds in Owen’s name.

St. Gerard’s 5K Fun Run

We are delighted to announce our very own St. Gerard’s 5K Fun Run, taking place on:

Friday 16th October 2026

The children will take part in a fun and active 5K challenge on the school field, helping to raise money for PACT and celebrate Owen’s life and legacy.

Event times:

• FS2: 9.00am–9.45am
• School Mass: 10.00am – Feast of St. Gerard, our patron saint
• Year 1 & 2: 11.00am–12.00pm
• Year 3 & 4: 1.00pm–2.00pm
• Year 5 & 6: 2.00pm–3.00pm

We ask that every child makes a minimum donation of £1 to take part. Children are also welcome to collect sponsorship — please see the attached sponsorship form.

All children should wear their PE kit on the day. Parents, carers and family members are very welcome to come along and cheer the children on — and perhaps even join in! Every donation, no matter how big or small, will help us support PACT and continue Owen’s legacy of bringing people together and making a difference.
