At St Gerard's our learning mentor is Mrs Angel. You will find Mrs Angel outside of the school gates every morning and she is reachable on the school telephone number.
Mrs Angel is here to support children of all ages with issues such as poor attendance, lack of self-esteem, behaviour or emotional difficulties and personal issues. Mrs Angel is also our schools deputy safeguarding officer and is also class based in different classes throughout the week.
You will find that Mrs Angel not only helps build up the mental wellbeing of our children, but she also works extremely closely with our families too. If you need any support, please do not hesitate to contact her.
Mrs Angel monitors attendance and will address any issues with frequent absences or illness. She will offer support for any family emergencies or ongoing issues and will provide additional support to your children if they are struggling with any aspect of school or home life. Mrs Angel can offer advice on diets, allergies, illness, bereavement and much more.
Mrs Angel is often the first person that the children will approach with any issues, particularly fall outs within friendship groups. Mrs Angel will often provide PSHE and support for the children and help repair any issues both in and out of school.
If you have any concerns about your child and friendship issues, please relay these worries to Mrs Angel, or the staff in your childs class, so that any issues can be resolved as soon as possible.
Every year each class will appoint two new school councillors to represent their class and the school; Mrs Angel supports the school council and helps them achieve what goals they set.
We also have new Road Safety Officers every year, who will be seen every morning stood outside school with Mrs Angel. The Road Safety Officers will help enable a safe and calm environment during what can be a very busy and hectic drop off time in a morning.
