Forest School Day

St. Gerards Catholic Primary • 18 October 2023

Our Harvest inspired Forest School day

Part of our Forest School curriculum explores nature's treasures and teaches outdoor skills. The children embraced the delights the season of Autumn offers and started their Forest School session with a hunt for their favourite Autumn  treasure. They then learnt skills including cutting with a sharp knife, carving with a spoon and how to use a hammer. Class 4 and Class 5 enjoyed a fire with a toasted marshmallow. What a lovely day had by all. Every class returned with enough pumpkin to try a recipe or two. We can't wait to try what they come up with later in the week, fingers crossed!

Year 4 children visited St. Bernard's Catholic High School for "Rise and Shine" with the school Chaplin Tammy. A message from Tammy at St. Bernard’s " I just wanted to let you know that your children and staff were absolutely fabulous on Friday. They were so full of energy and enthusiasm throughout the day. The singing in particular was spectacular! Please do say a huge thank you from me to the children, they were great to have in school and we are looking forward to working with them again soon "
